"Fiona is bright but depressed, a classic manic-depressive artist." --Lord Finkle-McGraw (333)
Fiona clung to the Primer after her father disappeared, and lived under the impression that he was speaking to her through it. And, indeed he was; not only though the technology, but also because he was the ractor in her copy. He was connected to her Primer during his time with the Drummers. At first it seems as though Fiona is a weak-willed person, content to slip into conformity in the Neo-Victorian Phyle. However, when she runs away with Hackworth when he returns, and her subsequent defection to the theater troupe Dramatis Personae, proves otherwise. Her father's return allowed her to sever her ties to the Primer and find her place in the world. To say the Primer had a negative affect on her would be wrong, as she needed the guidance it provided when she was fatherless. Her experience with the Primer was unique, as a result of the situation that brought it to her.
